Ron Kalifa, OBEIndependent Chairman
Ron is the Independent Chairman of the Network International Board of Directors. He is also the Executive Director of Worldpay.
He was Chief Executive Officer of Worldpay for over ten years, building and leading it into a premier global payments company. Worldpay is the pre-eminent fintech company globally and is the largest payments companies in the world. Ron has been a driving figure behind the success of Worldpay, which became the UK's most significant fintech IPO when it listed on the London Stock Exchange in 2015.
Ron is a non-executive director to the Bank of England's Court of Directors. He is also an operating partner to Advent International and its advisers on a variety of issues, particularly in relation to new investment opportunities. He also sits on the boards of Transport for London and the England & Wales Cricket Board.
In 2018, Ron was awarded an OBE for services to the Financial Services and Technology.
He has undertaken the Executive Program at Harvard Business School and was appointed as a director on 13 March 2019. Ron sits on Network International’s Audit & Risk committee, Nomination committee and its Remuneration committee.
Simon HaslamGroup Chief Executive Officer
Simon is Chief Executive Officer of the Group and serves on the Network International Board of Directors.
Simon has more than 35 years of experience in the payments and banking sector. Prior to joining Network International, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Elavon, a subsidiary of US Bancorp and one of the world’s largest global merchant processing organisations. Prior positions during his term at Elavon include President of International Markets and Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Europe. In addition, Simon has held positions at Citigroup and HSBC.
Simon has an Associateship of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and was appointed as a director on 27 February 2019.
Darren PopeSenior Independent Non-Executive Director
Darren serves on the Network International Board of Directors and is the Senior Independent Director for Equiniti Group plc and an Independent Non-Executive Director for CYBG plc.
Darren is a qualified accountant with over 30 years of experience in the financial services industry, the majority of which has been spent in retail financial services. Most recently, he served as CFO and Board Member of TSB Bank plc, having led both the initial stages of its separation from Lloyds Banking Group, and its subsequent IPO.
Darren has held a number of other senior positions at Lloyds Banking Group, Cheltenham & Gloucester plc, Egg plc and Prudential plc. He previously served as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chair of the Audit Committee of Virgin Money Holdings (UK) plc prior to its acquisition by CYBG plc in October 2018. He was also a member of the Virgin Money Holdings (UK) plc Risk, Remuneration and Nomination Committees.
At CYBG plc he is currently a member of its Audit Committee. He is also a member of the Clydesdale Bank plc and Virgin Money plc Boards both of which are subsidiaries within the CYBG plc group, a member of the Clydesdale Bank plc Audit Committee, Chair of the Virgin Money plc Audit Committee and member of the Virgin Money plc Risk Committee. Additionally Darren is Chair of Equiniti plc’s Audit Committee and a member of the Nomination and Risk Committees.
He was appointed as a director on 13 March 2019. Darren sits on Network International’s Audit & Risk committee, Nomination committee and its Remuneration committee.
Victoria HullIndependent Non-Executive Director
Victoria serves on the Network International Board of Directors and is a Non-Executive Director with Ultra Electronics plc and a Non-Executive Director with Rosenblatt plc, sitting on the Audit Committee, Remuneration Committee and Nomination Committee for each.
Victoria is a former Executive Director of Invensys plc, a FTSE 100 global industrial and software company, where she served as General Counsel and Company Secretary. She is also a former Executive Director, General Counsel and Company Secretary of Telewest Communications plc.
Victoria has experience across many diverse sectors, including an extensive corporate governance and Remuneration Committee background. Her breadth of commercial and legal experience includes familiarity with markets across the Middle East and Africa, and she has a strong legal background dealing directly in legal issues surrounding intellectual property rights, pensions, international M&As, commercial contracts and litigation. Her legal career commenced at Clifford Chance LLP in 1986 where she gained knowledge and experience working internationally on M&A for both public and private companies.
Victoria holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Southampton and was appointed as a director on 13 March 2019. She sits on Network International’s Audit & Risk committee, Nomination committee and its Remuneration committee.
Ali Haeri MazanderaniIndependent Non-Executive Director
Ali has extensive experience in the global payments industry. Most recently, Ali was a partner at Actis LLP, a global emerging markets private equity firm, were he led multiple financial technology transactions in businesses operating across Latin America, Africa, the Middle East, India and South East Asia. Prior to this, he was Lead Strategy Consultant at First National Bank in South Africa and a Consultant at OC&C Strategy Consultants in London.
Ali holds a Bachelors in Economics from the University of Pretoria, a Masters in Economics from Oxford University, a Masters in Economic History from the London School of Economics, a Masters in Business Law from the University of St Gallen and an MBA from INSEAD.
He currently serves as a Non-Executive Director for Stone Co Limited, Five Stars Loyalty Inc and CreditInfo Group.
Ali was appointed as a director on 22 January 2020 and is a member of the Board's Remuneration Committee.
Anil DuaIndependent Non-Executive Director
Anil has extensive experience operating in the pan-African financial services sector. He is Founding Partner at Gateway, a private equity fund specialising in dynamic growth markets including Africa, the Middle East and Asia. Prior to this, Anil worked for over 35 years with Standard Chartered Bank in Asia, Africa, Europe and US, where he held various roles including Regional CEO West Africa and Regional Head of Origination and Client Coverage, Africa.
Anil currently serves as a Non-Executive Director for Liquid Telecom, African Export Import Bank and Nouvobanq.
He was appointed as a director on 22 January 2020 and is a member of the Board's Audit & Risk Committee.
Habib Al MullaIndependent Non-Executive Director
Dr Habib is one of the UAE’s most highly respected legal authorities and serves on the Network International Board of Directors.
Habib has over 34 years’ experience in UAE law and has drafted many of the modern legislative structures in place in Dubai today. He is a strong advocate for the improvement and modernisation of UAE Laws. He is a frequent commentator on the legislation and economy of the UAE and is often consulted to draft and advise on Federal and Emirate level laws.
He is the chairman of the board of trustees for the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) and is Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators UAE Committee. Habib created the concept of financial free zones in the UAE and was the architect of the legal framework establishing the Dubai International Financial Centre, the first financial free zone in the UAE. He also served as Chairman of the Legislative Committee of the Dubai Financial Services Authority (DFSA).
Habib has held numerous prominent government positions over the years, including being a member of the UAE Federal National Council, the federal parliament of the UAE, member of the Legislative Committee, in charge of reviewing federal legislation, member of the Economic Committee, in charge of reviewing fiscal and economic policy of the federation, Director of the Institute of Advanced Legal and Judicial Studies, in charge of training judges and prosecutors in the Emirate of Dubai and Chairman of the UAE Jurists Association.
He was appointed as a director on 29 March 2019. Habib sits on Network International’s Nomination committee and its Remuneration committee.
Suryanarayan SubramanianNon-Executive Director
Suryanarayan is the Chief Financial Officer of Emirates NBD, and serves on the Network International Board of Directors.
Suryanarayan has over 30 years’ experience in Banking and Finance, primarily in South East Asia and the Far East with Standard Chartered Bank and Royal Bank of Canada, covering various CFO roles in geographic and business structures across Wholesale Banking, Retail and Wealth Management.
Suryanarayan has been with the Emirates NBD Group in Dubai since September 2010 as Group Chief Financial Officer. During this period ENBD has acquired Dubai Bank, an Islamic lender, and the Egyptian business of BNP Paribas.
In his last appointment, he was with the Ministry of Finance and Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority in Singapore holding a dual portfolio to support development of accounting standards and corporate financial surveillance.
Suryanarayan is a Chartered Accountant from India and a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours), Kolkata University.
He was appointed as a director on 13 March 2019.
